Mitsuwo Aida

Today I'm going to write about a person who inspired me. His name is Mitsuwo Aida. Do you know him? He was Japanese famous poet. He said that it is not necessary to be perfect person in his poem. Ningen Damono is a famous collection of his poems.
I met his poem when I was elementary student. I didn't like myself then, because I felt I had to be a perfect person. After I read his poem I became very cheerful. Thanks to his poem, I could face myself. I still like reading his poem, and I want to go Aida Mitsuwo Museum!

I like Korean culture, too! Speaking of food, especially I love japchae. Do you know this food? This is Korean stir-fried vegetables with bean-starch vermicelli. I want to eat japchae with rice and kimchi in Korea someday.

And I like Korean language very much. Some Korean words sound like Japanese words, right? I don't know Korean grammar well, but I guess it is also similar to Japanese one. It is interesting for me^^ In addition, the Korean letters are really unique. I didn't choose Korean as my second foreign language, but I want to study someday :-)

Hi! I'm Akihiko. Today is very cold, but air is very clear. I like clear air and clear sky so much. It makes my mind clear.

Hi!Today we have class schedule of Monday, and I have no class now.

Recently I always watch the DVD series, "24." in my free time♪ 24 is one of the most famous TV program series in U.S. and you know, the story is moving in real time. The latest rental DVDs of it was releaved this summer, but I was so busy at that time because of my club acitivity,so I couldn't watch it, but I have a little time to do now so I really enjoy it!!

The story of this season forcuses on the terrorism against U.S. by Sangalla which is a part of African countries, so If you are inretested in 24, I recommend you to watch it♪

Good morning!!
I will have Korean language's test this Saturday,so I'm studying hard now.
I go to university for Korean language lesson every Saturday 1 and 2 period. It is hard for me to fight sleepiness,however I like this lesson the best of all the subject.
I like Korean culture such as food,drama,and movie. Especially foods are fantastic!!
bibimbbap,tidimi,and KIMUCHI!!This is why I choose Korean language as second foreign language lesson.
And I will elect "intensive class" next year.

I finished the writing assignment just a little while ago! I took daytime nap for more than 2 hours (I didn't have enough time to do my writing essay yesterday...), so I was very surprised that it was completely dark when I got up.

By the way, my father came back to Japan today. He lives in the United States because of his work these days, so I met him for the first time in a half year. He gave me two CDs of Kirk Franklin as souvenirs. So I'm very happy now♪
Do you know Kirk Franklin? I guess all of you don't know. Kirk Franklin is a gospel singer who got Grammy Award years ago. I sang his song in my club when I was in high school, and came to like his song very much. His songs are cool and cheerful! If you are interested in gospel and R&B, I recommend him.

Person who inspired me★

I also forgot to write about the person who inspired me, so I'll do it now!
The person I really respect is Kazutoshi Sakurai and almost all of IE class members know him.
He is a vocal of the one of the most famous Japanese band, Mr Children and I really love their songs!!!!!! The words and musics of their songs are always written by him and those are very very marvelous and impressive!!
I think the most suitable song you should listen to when you feel bad is Ame-nochi-hare. When I experienced something bad or sad, I always listened to the song, so I want you to listen to the song♪
Their songs always help and encourage me, so that's the reason why I respect him, but I can't explain my feeling exhaustively(＊><＊)

We cremate a body when funeral in Japanese tradition, and bury the bones remaining, which the characters in that film keep.

I've done kotsu-age(骨揚げin Japanese), which Yu explained, and I did it unwillingly then..

However, I thought that if they had done the funeral in the western way that they lay the whole body, they couldn't have kept the bones and their relationship might have changed.

The action to keep the bones they did seems to describe that they have something just like Japanese, I thought.

Having the Bones

because I have influenza, so I come back to my hometown, Ehime.
I'm OK now but you should care about yourself.

Last week, in IE Core class I watched the movie which is called "Having the Bones" about Ruth Ozaki.
It was hard for me to understand.
This is because some people called themselves "I".
In the movie, I was so impressed by one scene.
This scene is a woman throwing the bones into the ocean.
I felt the people's connection with the bones.
So I think that their connection made them so strong.

Person who inspired me or my hero

My hero and person who inspired me is teacher Kinpachi(the character in the 3year B class Teacher Kinpachi)!!
He have influenced my life and I'm inspired by his everything.
His speech directly touch my heart.
He said "the letter 正 is structured 一(one)and 止(stop), so please be a person who can decide right choice with take care(一休み)"
He is so passionate and he is sometimes meddlesome and noisy.
However Thacher Kinpachi take care of his students and think the world of relationship between teacher and students.
I like him very much!!

Having the Bones★

We watched a film about Ruth Ozeki last week, so I'll talk about it.
After watching the film, Having the Bones, I thought about the Japanese funeral.
In Japan, the person's body is cremated in a crematorium and gathered the ashes and put in an urn by his or her relatives. I experienced this deed when I was junior high school student and I felt so strange and afraid of it, so of course I didn't have the bones because I couldn't the death of my great-grandmother at that time.
But after watching the film, my opinion toward Japanese funeral changed completely. I knew people can be related with the departed by having the bones and it'll often make them happy.
The film gave us many important things I think.

The person who inspired me is my English home tutor.
I met her when I was 4th grade in an elementary school through the introduction of my acquaintance.

In IE Core class, we saw the short movie, "Having the Bones" last week.
However, it was difficult for me to understand, so what I remember clearly even today is the song of insect collecting!!
I think, it is wonderful things that we can feel something though mementos such as bones.
We can not have other's lives, but we can consider someone's lives through mementos.
In this short movie, I can consider Ruth Ozeki's grandmother's life and the historical background at that time.
I have experienced my grandfather's funeral, but I do not remember my family did it.
I will ask my mother another time.

I have a plan to go to "Gotemba Premium Outlets" in Shizuoka on next Sunday! I am looking forward to going and shopping♪

so I won't be able to buy many things.

We watched the movie on last Friday. It was difficult for me to understand, but I could understand through the picture.

This movie was made by Ruth Ozeki. I was impressed by the song. I don't know the title. And I feel that was a little crazy. Having the bone is traditional in Japan. We can remember the man through the bone, so it is important in Japan.

My sister said that ache of oyashirazu is beyond imagination and terrible.

The person who inspired me is my grandfather. He is over 80 now, but he is very powerful! He studies Japanese folk song, Minyou and he songs very well. Making woodworks is also one of his hobbies. He is good at making something. He was a carpenter, so he is skillfull with his hands.
When he was younger, he trained hard himself to be a carpenter and started a small company of architecture. I think it was not easy, so I respest him. I want to be a person who has a strong mind like him someday.

Hello, I'm tired because I have worked part-time job for six successive days, and I'll work tomorrow too. Ah"~(-"-#)

I will write about the inspired person.
The inspired person for me is my track-and-field coach in high school.
Do you know Naoyuki Daigo, who has Japan record of high jump? He was also coached by him, so he is very famous coach in Japan.
He came to my high school when I was third grade. My specialty was 1500m, and I couldn't run fast then, but since I was coached by him, my record had developed gradually. Finally, I could do my best performance in last game. If he hadn't come to my school, I couldn't have recorded good result in 1500m. He is my benefactor. I remember his saying " if you become to feel hard, it is a chance to change yourself. If you overcome the hardness, you will be better." Thanks to this, I could run without giving up. Now, when I have difficulty in something, I always remember his saying, and try to overcome. My high school days that I run everyday are my precious memory. I've forgotten that I have to do the movie listening log by today! I went to TSUTAYA to rent a DVD for this task yesterday afternoon and watched the film at night. I wondered whether I could finish the assignment or not, but I finished at last! So I'm happy now^^

About obaachan's garden★

I completely forgot to write about obaachan's garden!! I'm sorry(><;)
After watching and listening to the story about Linda Ohama and her grandmother, I was moved very much, so I'll explain it.
Firstly, i was surprised at her character as you said. she married her real lover and was blessed with two children in Japan, but she couldn't spend happy married life so long because of her mother-in-law, and she kept this big secret in her mind till she interviewed her granddaughter for the film, Obaachan's garden.Knowing the fact, I felt she was very strong woman. If I were her, I cannot help telling and consulting it, I think.
So when I watched the scene that obaachan met her daughter, chiekosan, i was moved very much. Although they live away from each other, I think there is a close bond of family between them.

I went to college by bicycle today because I want to go to TSUTAYA to buy a CD. It took about 45 minutes because of an uphill slope, but I came home for about 30 minutes because of a downhill slope. It was very good exercise for me♪

By the way, we watched the movie "Halving the Bones" on last Friday, but it was too difficult for me to understand. Moreover, fortunately, I have never experienced the funeral, so I couldn't imagine 'having the bones' more and more. What do they have the bones for? I don't know.....
However, having the bones is Japanese traditional, so it is important action for Japanese. And the bones are memory of the parson who died, so bones are necessary not to forget the memory with the parson.

Last week, we watched movie. That was Having Bones that was made by Ruth Ozeki. Her grandmother went to Hawaii. In America, people saw her as Japanese but in Japan, people saw her as American. She thought that where her home town was? Maybe, she had a Japanese identity, but she couldn't identify herself by herself. When her daughter Masako saw her bones, she could recognize that this was my mother's. I think it is very wonderful. For her, to have bones is to have memory. So, it is very important for her. I was moved this seen. I felt strong love for her mother.
For me, I also think my hero is my mother. She always supports me. When I was a student preparing for an examination, I always had an uneasy feeling and I was in poor health. If there was not her support, I could not pass the examination. I really respect her. I want to be mother like her.

Anyway, we watched a movie whose title is "Halving the Bones". It was very impressive movie. It tells the story of Ruth Ozeki's journey as she brings her grandmother's remains home from Japan. Her mother was born in Japan, but live in the U.S. At first, I was surprised many pictures were remained. They gave us reality. Firstly, I couldn't understand why Ruth Ozeki's mother could not know until her daughter brought grandmother's bones. However, I could understood. It was involved many thing. Japan and the U.S was opponent, so grandfather was imprisoned and family was divided. I want to know how feeling of mother's when Ruth Ozeki brought bones and grandmother 's memories. Even though grandmother died in Japan, I thought bones made each other connect. I want Ruth's mother to go to Japan to visit her mother's grave. I also thought history is irony and there are many kinds of type of family and connection.

Well, I've left this blog for about a week..terrible.
Today I'll write about a person I was inspired.

It is my teacher of the piano lesson who inspired me.
I had been her student for over ten years, and what she did for me or with me during the time makes me DO love music. At the first time of the lesson, I was reluctant to go because my parents made me go, and I was not good at playing. When I told her about my unwillingness, she encouraged me saying that I didn't have to be expert but enjoyed what I played. Now I've quited the lesson since my second grade in high school, but I still continue to play the piano and other instruments. I have to educate my playing not only the piano but the guitar, but I wanna enjoy much more my playing them!

I wanna practice them for the live, but I have to do my media, listening report etc...

Nishino Kana

My favorite singer these days is Nishino Kana.　She's from Mie and speaks in the Mie dialect. She's not only a singer but also a university student of Kinjyo Gakuin University in Aichi. She became a sightseeing ambassador of Mie prefecture after a talk with the governor. Her lyrics is written based on her love experiences, so she and her songs are loved and sympathized with many girls. Most of her songs are little heartbreaking. Her famous songs are "tookutemo", "kimini aitakunarukara", "motto...", and so on. She released a single CD "Dear..." recently. If you become to be interested in her, listen to her songs once!

A part-time job

At the beginning of December, I was interviewed for a part-time job and was adopted then and there. It was eight time that I had been interviewed for it... I started to work at a cake shop in Minamiosawa station since last Friday. It is still difficult for me to learn how to do job, so I sometimes make mistakes, but I try to hard! I want to get used to my job early. Cakes and tarts smell very sweet and look really cute, so I always feel happy during a job. Please come to buy sweets there :)♪

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

I want to write about my book report today, since I was absent from last class.

I guess all of you have ever heard the title of this book. This is a story of a man who has dual personality. The author, R. L. Stevenson, depicted the dark part of human being in this story.
To begin with, Mr. Hyde is Dr. Jekyll, though Edward Hyde looks completely different from Henry Jekyll. Edward is written as an evil, brutal person, and, on the other hand, Henry is written as a kind and friendly person. However, Jekyll made a medicine to divide his dark individuality, namely Mr. Hyde. He did such a crazy thing because he did have a strong desire to enjoy misdeed without losing honor. In addition, finally he came not to be the gentle doctor: he was captured by dark. These facts clearly show that Henry Jekyll is actually a brutal person, even if he is recognized as a gentleman.
It is really strange case; there is no medicine to divide one’s evil face, so nobody can be really like Dr. Jekyll. Anyone have evil face, however. People sometimes say about some criminals, “I cannot believe that he did such a terrible crime because he was peaceful and kind,” for instance. Mr. Hyde exists in the mind of all people. This story tells the readers that how human beings are avid, and let them know the darkness in their mind, through the miserable death of a man who weltered in darkness.

What I Learned from Linda Ohama and Her Obaachan

I've not written on this blog more than one week! Today I must write about Linda Ohama and her Obaachan because I've forgotten to do that... I think it is too late, but I want you to read.

Obaachan was very brave and strong, to begin with. Ms. Ohama said at the end of her lecture presentation that speaking Japanese in Canada was dangerous thing because Japan was Canada's enemy during World War II. That is because she cannot speak Japanese well. Her Obaachan loved her mother country, however. She spoke Japanese in spite of her situation, and sometimes enjoyed Japanese traditional dance not to forget Japan, her sweet home. Moreover, since she continued speaking Japanese in her house, her daughter can make herself understood in Japanese. She was a bridge between Canada and Japan for her relatives in Canada.

I cannot know how severe the situation was, but if I were her, I couldn't speak Japanese, enjoy Japanese traditional dance, and I might forget love for Japan. It is not easy to be like Obaachan. I respect her for this reason.

Christmas Joint Discussion Meeting

Hello! How are you today?

Yesterday, I had a discussion meeting in Tokyo Christian Woman University. That title was Christmas Joint Discussion Meeting!

I ate Christmas cake a little before real Christmas in reception. We discussed about Cigarettes. But, the agenda will change soon. It may be criminal issue, I guess. Through this second semester, I could learn a lot of things about cigarettes by searching evidence. According to WHO, the number of people who get disease by cigarettes is about 3 million par a year. This number is amazing, isn't it? Smokers can't stop smoking because of nicotine addiction. I really want to recommend smokers all over the world to smoke electronic cigarettes.

I went to there yesterday to shopping.
Lazona is a shopping mall, opened on 28 September, 2006.
The name "Lazona" is a compound word which "Lazo" means 絆 and "Zona" means 地域 in Spanish.
There not only have many fashion shops, but also have Big Camera, movie theater, sport gym, supermarket, and so on.
Moreover, there often have events on grand stage every week.
For example, 羞恥心 had a live concert at there.

Kawasaki is not so far from Yokohama,
if you take JR京浜東北 line, it only 20 minutes.

I have really taken to this shopping mall.

Obaachan's garden

We watched Obaachan's Garden last week.

At first, I thought Ms.Ohama was Japanese judged by her appearances.
So when I knew she could't speak Japanese I was surprised.

About Obaachan's garden, I think she had great inner strength.
In foreign country alone, there weren't anythings she could depend on.
She did all by herself.
It is an unbelievably difficult position for me.
So, I really respect Obaachan.

The person who inspired me is my English teacher at junior high school. Although his pronunciation was not so good, his lesson was very interesting because we listened to the European music at first, and played many games with English. Thanks to him, I was interested in English and became to like English. So if I wasn't taught by him, I may study something else at the university... I am really thankful to him!!

The checkered story of blood

In the last class of IE core, we class members watched the movie Halving the bones.
This movie is made by Ruth Ozeki and is her autography. This movie is the record of her ancesters. Before WWⅡ, her grand mother went to Hawaii at the age of 17 and loved a Japanese man at first sight there. After all, she backed to Japan and died. In her life, she had a baby but the baby was in America. Ruth Ozaki had kept the bones for five years and returned the bones to her. Because of this history, Lounsbury was neither American nor Japanese. She was halfway to be the one of them. I think she strapped extremely heavy thing to her back in the meaning. However, the reason she have to do that was caused by the very interesting history of her blood. I think her heavy baggage was very meaningful. so her life may be the good one, because other people can't experience that. As for me, I hated the movie, because the movie looks light of Japan; for example, the music played in the movie was like a Japanese pop, but it was too terrible to hear and I thought the movie directer made fun of Japanese culture. This movie doesn't understand Japan. This movie was played in only in America, so Americans may have wrong images about Japan. I can't allow that. However, by thinking this movie itself was the halfway to be the one of Japan or America, this thing become meaningful, but I hate this movie. In the movie Austin Powers, there were the scene which express sumo so funny. I was irritated that. Japanese culture is a difficult one, but I want foreigner to study it.
Secondly, I want to tell you the person who is interesting to me. I respect the movie director Steven Spielberg. I watched many movies of him. I rented the movie Sshindler's List for my studies today. When I watched Jurassic Park first, I was surprised at the world he makes, and the later, after I watched several movies of different directors, I noticed that he was the best movie director of all the director. He is good at making entertaining movies, for example, ET, Indiana Jones, Jaws and War of the Worlds but he has an ability to make the serius movie of historical important events. It was Schindler's List. the movie won the Academy Awards. The movie was so cruel, but the one moves the people's feelings. This movie seemed that everyone think this movie was not made by him. He is great and I want to be a man like him.

Obaachan's Garden

Good afternoon!!
I watched the movie "Obaachan's Garden" last Friday. It was valuable experience.
I realized that I hardly know about war and how peaceful my life is.

I was surprised at her strength too. In those day, It was hard for people to live another country. She must have suffer a wall of language and difference of culture.
However, Asayo overcame them. her strength was worthy of reverence.

Also, The most impressive scene is when Asayo met her daughter again. She had turned her thoughts taward thier reunion. I was greatly touched by a bond of parent and child. Their hope came true over the year.

It seemed that Obaachan was loved and respected by many people through her character.
I think we shouldn't forget tragedy of wars and need to create peaceful world.

I don't know how hard her life was because I have never experienced such a thing, but if I were her, I couldn't get along like her. Hello, and finally I finished the book report. I'm tired.
Last week, We IE members watched the movie, "Obachan's Garden" and Listened to the story and the background from the directer. In this story, A mother moved to America from the Hiroshima, Japan in early 20century to get married to a person who was foreigner, because she couldn't find the children and her husband after the big earth quake of Kanto. She abandoned them, and went to another country. I thought she was very strong. Probably,she couldn't understand English at first. in spite of that, she went to America. She was a reckless people in a mean, but she could live in the country. It was amazing. If she was I, I would die.

The film is a personal reflection of Japanese-Canadian history and a testament to one woman's incredible endurance and spirit. At first, I was surprised Obachan didn't speak English still now. I thought she had strong identities as Japanese. I wondered how Obachan and her daughter who lived in Japan have felt each other for a long time. If I were in same situation, I would give up soon. It is very important to believe sincerely. She has very strong heart. The film was a moving and personal. I thought history of Obachan was gift for future generation.

I researched about the writer, Oscar Wilde, who wrote "The Picture of Dorian Gray."
He was a hedonist and he spent a complicated life.
As I research, I found that it may safely be said that he was killed by the society at that time.

someone who inspired me

The person who inspired me the best is Yuya Fukui
He is a baseball player and his position is a pitcher.
When he was a high school student and his school was Saibi High School in Ehime, I was a junior high school student.
In those days, when I watched the high school baseball game by chance, I watched his pitching. Since then, I began to be interested in baseball.
He plays at Wasada University now.

Because I became his fan, I came to be interested in Saibi High School and I went to same high school.
When I was a first year student at Saibi, I could meet him twice!
I was so excited and very happy.
I also came to be interested in a professional baseball and love Tetsuya Utsumi who is a pitcher in the Giants.
That is why Mr. Fukui inspired me so much that I was logging to be a coach’s assist and I can ne an assistant at Aogaku, although I could not be an assistant in a high school.
Thanks to him, baseball makes my life do much happier.

Yesterday, I watched Live DVD. The title is "It's a wonderful world on Dec 21". It was took place only one time because Kazutoshi Sakurai had a cerebral infraction at this time. So, I really feel they were with their wh0le heart in this concert. When I bought this DVD, I watched many many time. So, I remembered that time.

Good morning! I'm free now, because Spanish class was canceled suddenly, so I will write about the movie we watched last week, Obaachan's Garden.

I learned many things from Obaachan. First, I thought I have to love my homeland, Japan more like Obaachan. Surprisingly, she had never learn English in Canada because she loved Japan. Self-identity

Good evening! Recently I can see beautiful illuminations everywhere. Especially, the illumination tree in Fuchinobe station is very gorgeous. Christmas is coming!

I watched Obaachan's garden and thought about self-identity. I think love of country is identity. Asayo left Japan and settled in Canada. But she spoke few English because she loved Japan deeply. So she is Japanese wherever she lives. On the other hand, I think it was hard for her to keep having willpower. If I settled foreign country, I would speak language in the country even if I decided to speak only Japanese. She had strong mind.
Identity is something invisible so it's difficult to define identity. Each people would have different idea about it.

Then I have to write book report and introduce people inspired me on this blog. So it's not your mishearing, yousuke.

How was the test? I think you would be able to get a good grade! When I looked at your note, I thought again at lunch time that you were diligent and had good handwriting! And you are really good at Kanji, so I wish I were as good at Kanji as you. Actually until recently, I have not been aware of the ability of Kanji. I am really disappointed... As one of Japanese, I have to learn it in earnest before I have no time to do. Whatever jobs we have in the future, learning Kanji should be essential and important for us.

Anyway, I will write about a famous rock band as a precaution...

Mr.Children is one of the most famous music groups in Japan. Until today from 1992 when Mr.children made a major debut, they have made a lot of masterpieces in the music world, the influence of which has been enormously spreading even today. Actually, especially in 1990s, the so-called "Misuchiru Phenomenon" was brought about. It should be no exaggeration to say that Mr.Children is the top of musicians or music groups at least in Japan.

It is when I was a junior high school student that I listened to their songs for the first time in my life, but in those days, I thought I had listened to their songs for some times and had knew them. Although I sometimes think about it, it is the fact that I had listened to their songs for the firs time in those days. Despite my whole ignorance about Mr.Children, I had a feeling of familiarity, and then of course their songs were so great beyond description. Even today, the popularity and influence is not so much unchanged as spreading up.

I have a lot of CD, but not all of their CD. Now there are some rare CD commanding a premium which are, of course, very expensive. I think I can't buy such expensive things and won't buy them, but wherever possible, I intend to collect their CD, which is one of my dreams!

Now that I have listened to their songs for about 7 years, Mr.children is essential for me. Their songs always make me look back on my memories. When I feel gloomy, their songs encourage me. Interestingly, all of the members don't know that they always help me. They may uncousiously support the life of people in Japan by doing what they like. If so, there is nothing or nobody as admirable as them.

Yosuke, thank you for telling us the site of Obaachan’s Garden.

In the class, Yasuyuki said “Asayo was so strong woman.”
I also thought that. She divorced because of her husband’s mother.
In those days, it was so rare things that she could not live as same as general people.
That is why she went to Canada to marry the man, but she didn’t satisfy with him and she didn’t marry him. When I watched this scene, I was very surprised. This is because if I were her, I couldn’t do such a thing. I thought she had a strong will.

In addition, Mr. Armstrong talked about the connection between the Asayo’s and Japan.
When I heard that, I could understand her thinking.
If she died and the person who can know about Japan disappeared at her family, the connection to Japan would disappear, because her family except for her doesn’t have Japanese geography. That is why she is a very important person.

This movie made me think a lot of things and influenced on me.

Obaachan's Garden★

Hello! I am very sleepy now, but I must write about "Obaachan's Garden" because tomorrow, I must write second book report......... I am depressed....

First of all, thank you for teaching the website about Obaachan's Garden, yousuke! I could get knowledge about the movie, and yes, I think Star Wars is more interesting than Obaachan's Garden too. But certainly, as you said, Obaachan's Garden taught us many things, for example about the war, the Great Kanto Earthquake and situation in those days. We don't experience the war and the great earthquake, so such movie is precious thing for us to know history.

Then, I was surprised and respected Linda Ohama's grandmother, Asayo in two points. One is that she have never try to learn English though she lived in Canada. I don't imagine how she lived in Canada. However, she is more Japanese than people live in Japan, I think. 'Japanese' is the people who love Japan. The other thing is that she canceled her photo marriage. Marriage is important thing in our lives. So we must not compromise the life partner.

Obaachan's Garden was difficult to understand completely, but it was good movie to learn about the situation in those days.

Today, The French class is canceled. So, I went to Tachikawa with my mother :) I ate lunch with her. It was fun for me!

By the way, we watched the movie that name is Obachan's garden. After watching this movie, I think a lot of things about my life. The most important thing is about identity. After watching it, I thought what Japanese is? Linda Ohara's grand mother went to Canada forcibly and she never speak English except 'Hello' or 'Yes' or 'No' that is minimum used because she had a strong identity as Japanese. She always want to keep remembering about Japan. I really respect this point. She has a strong will that is unshakable. As for me, I thought until I watched this movie that it was no wonder that I am Japanese. Is to be able to speak Japanese proof as Japanese? No. I think to love Japan from bottom of heart is proof as Japanese. People have this feeling when they was born. So, we must remember the affection for Japan.

I think this movie is an essence of documentary movie. Ordinarily, we are rarely ready to watch documentary movies because , to say the least, they are not exciting. More excited Star Wars should make me!(Only me?) Similarly, this movie would be anything but exciting even if anyone watch it, but documentary movies can inform us of many facts or much knowledge, and then they give us the opportunities that we reflect on news, history, incident and so on. These things considered, documentary movies benefit us more overwhlemingly than other kinds of movies. We don't have to contemplate in earnest. It should be just great to get a little knowledge.

Asayo Murakami, what a patriotic woman she is! Even since she left Japan and settled in Canada, she hadn't intend to learn English. She only said "Yes," "No," "Hello," etc. Very simple! That's because she wanted to keep the memory of Japan! I dear say she must have thought she was bound to forget many precious memories of Japan if learning English. In addition, as Yasuyuki said yesterday, she was strong. I really consider such an attitude very nice beyond description. Definitely, she was a sincere person and absolutely stuck to what she made up her mind to do. I really look up to such a strong person.

It is sunny today so I am very happy!!
I will read the book for book report,
clean my room and finish lots of homework.

Short movies

Mermaid
The main characters are a boy and a mermaid. The boy met a mermaid and played with her in his imagination. Indeed, he could see the mermaid in reality taking out her from his imaginary world. He wanted to let other people see the mermaid, but they couldn't see her. They don't try to understand him and they treat him like the mad. Moreover, they tried to make him forget such a foolish imagination. however, he never forgot his mermaid. Finaly, he drowned himself.

Aquarios
The main character is a women. She lives in a dark and closed room. She lives alone. In the room, there is a machine to train lung capacity, a special computer and a big water tank. She wants to be a dolphin. One day, she found a man lying in her room, but she noticed that he was a dolphin and she moved him to the water tank and he recoverd good condition. However few or more hours after,the water tank broke so she hurry him return to the see. Finaly she also dive into the see and enjoy swimming. She disappeared far away.

Mermaid

I think the man in the movie love mermaid, and he wanted to bring her to his house,but in fact in his country it is not allowed to imagin or think freely. The man tried to forget her, but he couldn't. In the last he went to the ocean with mermaid in his heart.

Aquarios
In this movie, I think the woman wanted to be dolphin, and tried to be able to breath in water. She tried anything to be dolphin, and desired to sea. This movie is relvant to the movie of Mermaid. People have a desire to be something, and want to be it as it is unusual thing. I think these movie show the desire of person.

In fact, there was no mermaid which a boy believed the existence of a mermaid in his water tank. But those around one wouldn't permit him to have indivisual thought. And then, he dacided to live with a mermaid, which means his death. What Osamu Tezuka weanted to tell us is that it is important that children have many liveral ideas. Because children have a rich imagination, so they had better exercise this power and stimulate the right brain.

*Aquarios*
This story is really difficult for me. I thought that a man who was in the tank is not human but a dolphin in fact. She hoped to be a dolphin and wanted to live free in the sea.

Common theme between the two is freedom, I think.

I read your blog and knew you go to the Yamapii's concert on last Saturday.
Because I had part-time job at Shinyokohama, I knew there was the concert.
When I arrived at Shinyokohama station, there filled with many young girls.
Then I found all of them had the fan with a message "Short but Sweet".



As far as I know, ジャニーズオタク are very enthusiastic.
I have a ジャニオタ friend, she said when she goes to concert, always make a big show.
for example, loudly dressed and making.
That is to attract the artist's attention.
moreover, she always does 遠征 which is go to other district expressly to join concert.
I can't understand her, it is beyond me.

about two short stories★

I completely forgot my blog homework by now!! So I’ll talk about two short films from now on.
Mermaid
This was a story about a boy playing near the sea and a fish. He played with it, but suddenly the fish changed a mermaid and he decided to take her to his home, but his parents could see her as a not mermaid but a fish. His country did not allow that people thought everything freely, so he was arrested because he told them a fantasy and he finally forgot her. However at the climax, when he put her back to the sea, he could see a fish as a mermaid again and they disappeared into the sea.
Aquarius
It was more difficult for me to understand about the story than Mermaid(><)
A woman lived in a certain world that people could choose which they lived as a human or a dolphin and she wanted to live as the latter. She had big equipment like water tank to train for living in the sea. At the moment, a dying man suddenly appeared in front of her, and she came up with putting him into water and then he overcame more and more and became a dolphin (but I don’t know why)! At the end, they lived in the sea together as a dolphin.
These two short films tell us the importance of freedom of thinking and of keeping our own dream. As we are getting older, we tend to lose our dream and heart of believing a kind of fantasy, but those things can bring us the power to stick to our own opinion without plaything of society around us. And I also thought those two story are resemble because “sea” described the symbol of freedom in the stories and at the end they were finally liberated from society robbed of their freedom and hope.
There are so many things to be good for us in both films I think.

Christmas☆

Christmas is coming soon and there is a special festival, lighting fettival today!
So I'm looking forward to it very much(^^)/
I'm going to holding so many Christmas party with my junior high school friends, high school friends, or of course university friends♪I' m looking forward to those, too!!

I had gone back to my home town in Niigata for a short while.
I enjoyed my holidays very well.
I heard our favorite teacher married. So I went our high school
with my friends to make sure if the gossip is true.
As expected , it is not true. We were very dissapointed.
He is 53 years old now. We hope nice nice future comes to him.

When I watched the short movie “Mermaid” I felt fear that people lose imagination by being controlled from a nation. Animators need imagination so I wonder if they feel fear like that beyond necessity, and they insist the freedom of thought like this pattern. The end is not written clearly, but I think the man become mermaid, too.
And next, I studied about dolphins. It is said that the dolphins threw away life on the land and they came to live in the sea long time ago. I found interesting theory that human being perhaps follows the same way with dolphins. This theory is said “Aquatic Ape Hypothesis” The baby can swim without being taught how to swim. Some people say that it is atavism. Two movies are very difficult for me.

Hi everyone! I'm Akihiko. I watched the short movie last week.

・Mermaid

The main character is a boy and a mermaid. I thought that a boy likes sea and wanted to be a mermaid. At the end of the movie, he became a mermaid. I thought Osamu Tezuka taught us that it is important to believe dream devotedly. So, even difficult things can come true. He com per fancy with reality skillfully.

・Aquarius

The main character is a woman and a dolphin. She longed for to be a dolphin. Therefore, she spent day and night to research. At the end, she can be dolphin. Her dream came true.

There are common character in both movie; every character have dream to transform.
It was very interesting and difficult for me.

To Mizuki

I've never been to the lighting festival, so I'm looking forward it.
I think I would go the festival.
However, I have to do one thing in this festival.
I have to find out the teacher who give a lecture of laws!
It's a strange game that the teacher suggested us to give us some points in his lecture!
I'll try hard in my own way:)

Both stories are involved in the sea and they are similar.

It was very interesting, but difficult for me.
I couldn't find some informations about them on the internet...

I think both story say that dreams come true.
Strong will and faith make people strong.
In addition, if people fall in love with something, probably they can't see around them.
For example, main character in Mermaid fall in love with mermaid and he turned a deaf ear to advice.

Both story have some good lessons and also some bad lessons.

I think it is wonderful to stick to my principles, and love someone deeply.

Geography

Good evening! I'll write about two short movies.

"Mermaid"
There is a boy who considered a fish as a mermaid. However, the country forbade the freedom of imagination and the boy was punished severely. In the end, the boy could not gain people's understanding and decided to live with a mermaid in the sea.
I think that the director wanted to tell about the freedom of expression. I believe that the end of this movie, which the boy entered the sea, described that resistance of placing a gag on freedom of speech.

"Aquarios"
There is a woman who tried to be a live in the water. One day, she met a man whose original
form was a dolphin. Through the communication of the man, Finally, she decided to live with the dolphin.
I think that the director wanted to tell about the personal right to decide of lives. the environment which could feel happy differ with people. the woman might be happy when she could live with the dolphin.Therefore, I am sure that this movie expressed the freedom of living.

Compared "Mermaid" and "Aquarios", there is a resemble. I felt that both of them indicate that expression of his/her essence and happiness depend on an individual and the environment. From other people's point of view, it looks like very crazy, but the person might feel happy when he/she could find his/her place.

Mermaid and Aquarios

I watched 2 movies Mermaid and aquarios. They were very complex and abstract movies.
I felt difficulty to understand....

Mermaid was made by Osamu Teduka, he is very famous and his work is popular. In addition one of the his work was made on the basis of Metropolis which we watched two weeks ago. Mermaid was simple animation. The boy met mermaid and he fell in love with her at once. Then he showed parents mermaid, but they recognized only small fish. So, he insisted existence of mermaid while people around him didn't let him believe it. After their pressure, he couldn't see figure of mermaid. Finally he recognized mermaid again and disappeared into the sea with her.
I think this story told importance of each sense of value. The boy had pure and flexible heart and innocence,on the other hand many adult had obstinate feeling. And last scene was impressive for me. The boy jump in the sea with Mermaid and he change his appearance from the little boy to mermaid. He went to own world without binding or interference.

Aquarios was more difficult than Mermaid. Woman hope world which people can live together dolophin.One day she saved man who was almost dying. she looked after him and had attachment. But on the following day man changed dolphin. It struggled and broke water tank, so she return dolphin to the sea. Dolphin (man?)swam lively and she swam with him.Finally they happily disappear together. This story told me that one thing have many side. I think dolphin and man were the same, but its appearance
was connect with her feeling or mind occasionally. And last scene was impressive too.
woman found the road that she should go and she looked like so happy.

These 2 movies had a lot of common. I learned that one thing have a lot of side,and we shouldn't be bonded fixed idea. Also, if we continue to believe ,the road was surely opened

These movies ware very difficult but I learned a lot!!

Mermaid and Aquarios

We saw two movies on last Friday. Those movies were a little different from the movies we usually see. We got the strong message from them.

Marmaid
A boy is a main character. He liked imagining and longed for swimming with mermaid. However, people around him thought he was crazy, so he was arrested. Now we have a right to imagine freely and must not violate it. Osamu Tezuka may have made this movie to claim we must not control or suppress people's imagination.

Aquarios
I felt a little difficult to understand the message from this movie. So, I try to use my imagination freely. The main character is a woman. She also longed for the freedom. She really hopes swimming with dolphins.


These movies have a similar point. It is that the main characters longed for free world. In these two movies, it is the ocean.

Mermaid and Aquarious

I will think about Mermaid and Aquarious.

About Mermaid: One day a boy saw a strange figure in the sea. That seemed like a mermaid to the boy. The boy took her home and tried to kept it. In the country, however, imagination was strictly forbiden. The boy was kept in a jail. His company treid to make him not imagine the fish as a mermaid and they succeeded it. The boy returned home and the fish was just a fish to him. He returned it to the sea. At that time, the fish seemed like the mermaid to the boy again.

Probably the boy really like the mermaid, and just wanted the fish to be the mermaid, I think.

About Aquarious: A woman wanted to live in the sea. She built a laboratory to realize it. In the laboratory, there was a big water burial. She was trying to stop breathing there. But she failed it. One day there was a young man in the laboratory. She thought she sould return the man into the sea. After all, She also decided to jump into the sea.

I think she strongly wanted to live in the sea. If she had died in the end, she maybe felt happy. That's what only she knows. This is my view.

Speaking English

I can't speak English well. When I was a high school student, my English teacher said that Speaking English is just like impromptu English composition. But I don't think so. Speaking English and English composition seems completely different to me. English composition mainly makes much of grammar. On the other hand, Speaking English mainly makes much of being able to communicate immediately. I have to practice speaking English more harder.

I feel Xmas everywhere. The house near Aoyama gakuin university is decorated with Christmas goods. It is very fascinating! Recently, I listen a Christmas song that Back Street Boys sing. It is ' Christmas Time' It is very beautiful song. I like it very much.

Mermaid and Aquarios

We watched Mermaid and Aquarios when it comes to the Geography.

At first I watched Mermaid.
Firstly I thought it was funny movie, but it was wrong.
When a boy who imaged a mermaid was arrested and tortured I was so surprised and shocked.
In addition, he was tortured too much to image and went to the ocean, so he could come to see the mermaid and went into the ocean with her.
He was forced not to image, so he was very confused.
I think that he escaped into another world which people can image freely, but people in the world which people cannot image anything thought he died.
After watching it, I felt so sad and I think Mr. Tezuka want people to image freely and not to stop imaging freely by adults. For example if children had told something strange which they imaged, adults must have said “Stop talking something strange”.
I think Mr. Tezuka don’t want adults to do that.

Next I watched Aquarios.
I think a woman want to be a dolphin and tried to be it.
When a man (in fact he was a dolphin) and she swam together in her dream, she looked very happy.
Finally she entered into the tank.
By the way, she studied alone. It was very strange for me, because most people who study often have a party, but she was alone.

That is why these stories are similar in these two points; a person who imaged something didn’t have someone who understood his or her thinking, and a person who imaged something went into another ideal world.

These are great movie. However a man like a dolphin was so scared for me><

holidays :-) ☆

On Saturday, I went to the concert by Aoyama Gakuin Orchestra. It was held near the Tama Center Station. The Christmas lights made the shopping area so fantasia. A lot of family came to see it.
The concert was amazing for me so that sound traveled very beautiful each other and sound had great impact. My friend and I were very inspired!
On Sunday, I went to the campus festival of Tokyo University. We met a senior of our high school who was a candidate of a mister contest. I regret to say that he couldn’t become a mister of this contest, but he has many talents and was very stylish. I think he is nice man!
On Monday, I took received my yukata which sent to the cleaner’s in Machida. I was very sorry that I left it as it is since I got a call to my mobile phone about one month ago… It was completed good-looking, so I appreciated them very much. And then, I went shopping♪ I was really acquisitiveness but I controlled myself not to buy clothes. I bought a cute ornament of a X’mas tree.

I like it!
I enjoyed three consecutive holidays very much.

I have eaten kiritanpo only once and I like it! It was very dericious. And it is the best to eat in winter. I want to held a nabe party at the IE member, too♪ I like nabe party because it is not only enjoyable but also low cost!

I also watched "Otonari" at the movie theater. It was a good love story. A main character, Okada Jyunichi looks very handsome at the movie(><)!!!
I was looking forward to the next IE class! See you tomorrow☆

kiritanpo nabe party :)

On Tuesday, My friends and I held the nabe party. We sat around a one-pot meal. I ate kiritanpo the first time, which was a special conduct of Akita prefecture. Do you know kiritanpo? It is made of rice and formed like chikuwa. Two of us are from Akita and one of their's mother sent food meterials for us. I was really looking forward to eating it. It was very delicious and I was getting warmer as eat these foods. Winter is the best season to hold the nabe party.
And then, we talked a lot, watched the movie "Otonari" which the leading actor is Junichi Okada. This movie made us feel gentle mood. In next afternoon, we ate ramen and said good-bye. I love eating very much♪　But...I have to be on diet!

Marmaid and Aquarios

Hello! Although it seems too late, I'm going to write about two short movies.

Mermaid
A boy who loved daydreaming found a fish which was washed ashore at the beginning. When he let it return to the sea, he recognized the fish was mermaid. He brought the mermaid to his house to introduce it to his parents. They didn't believe him, however. The boy arrested because daydreaming was forbidden in his country. The policemen tried to make him forget the mermaid, and the boy forgot her little by little. One day he broke out the jail and return to home. Then what he saw was just a fish, not a mermaid. He picked up his fish and ran to the sea. When he let the fish to the sea, it became the mermaid who the boy met before. At last he swam to far away with the mermaid, and his parents and the policemen who came to catch the boy kept their stunned eyes on him.
The mermaid was only in his mind till the end, I think. The suppression of the boy was too strict, so he went completely mad and dived into the sea finally. What Tezuka want to say through this movie is, therefore, the importance of respect for individual.

Aquarios
This movie was more difficult for me to understand than Mermaid, same as Yura! But anyway, I'll do my best.
A woman had wanted to live in the sea with dolphins, so she had a study room under the sea. One day she found a man lying in her study room. She thought that he was actually a dolphin. She put him into a water tank. The man recovered consciousness while she fell asleep, and she enjoyed swimming in the water tank. But the man was only in her dream. At last the water tank was broken by a dolphin. The woman saved the dolphin, and then it went through a window and to the sea, like a ghost. She dived into the sea following the dolphin and enjoyed swimming.
This movie resembles Mermaid in a point: The main characters in both movies were dreamers. But the heroine of Aquarios was completely free. Nobody deny her imagination, which differ from Mermaid. Thus what the director wanted to hand on through Aquarios is also different from that of Mermaid: it is that all people are free in their dream, though their wish never come true.

Chocolate

Hello:) Now I'm at PC room because I have no class next period. I want to finish my media discussion until this period!
By the way, I have a surprising story. I made up my mind to drink hot chocolate this morning. When I went to take a chocolate, I saw the unbelievable thing. It molded! Have you ever seen a chocolate with white fluffy mold? It was the first time that I saw such a chocolate. Other chocolates in the same place were safe, so I don't know why it molded. If you have some chocolates in your house, take care!

Mermaid and Aquarious

We saw short movies about geography last Friday and I thought it was little difficult to understand. At first, I thought the theme of movies were "freedom of thinking", but I noticed I had to connect with "geography". So I were little confused...

Mermaid: A main character is a boy who saw mermaid in the sea. I think he have a pure mind, because he could see a fantastic thing which dosen't exist actually. People around him didn't trust him and treat him as crazy boy, and finally arrest him. It was unusual at the present day because what people think or trust is free now. However, at that time when this movie was made, people didn't be alowed to trust fantasy. It was said crazy to be able to see what other people cannot see. He was not much such a restricted world. I think sea is a symbol of freedom. So he wanted to escape reality and live in a free world.

Aquarious: This movie is similar to a first movie, Mermaid. A woman who is a main character wanted to be a dolphin and live in the sea. I think she was also feel uncuncomfortable with a real world.

The main characters were born in human world where they didn't want to be. I think they could move to the world they really want to be at the end.

I regretted that I was in my house all the day today after reading your article! I like looking up the blue sky with a few clouds, too.
I also like the blue sky after the rain. Some clouds are still in the sky, and sometimes we can see the rainbow! It is romantic view, isn't it?

About Geography

I enjoyed the short movies related to the home.
Mermaid: A boy saw the mermaid in the sea, and took her back home and kept it,but other people couldn't see that, people could only the fish and he was jailed, because imagination is prohibited and he was suspectable for that. Then, the many staffs in the jail tried to make him forget mermaid, and he finally forgot the mermaid. He ran away from jail and went to his house, but the mermaid is not there, there is a fish in the water tank. He returned that to the sea, but he and the tracker from the jail to arrest him saw the mermaid at last.

The world he belonged to was the narrow one to him in this case. The world was small. I'm sure that he feel uncomfortable for that.

Aquarios: This story is based on the words " Dorphin is a human who chose to live in the sea. "
A woman who loved the sea and she wanted to be the resident of the sea. She was in the institution which was made in the sea. One day, A man was lying before her. She thought he came from the sea and he was the dorphine. She wanted to be a dorphine. She saved him and one day he became a dorphine and she returned to the sea. She went to the sea with him, because she couldn't bare the condition of her.

She want to live in the sea. She didn't want to be a human. The world she belonged to was the narrow one too.

The difinition of the home is various to each people.

Hello! How are you today?

Last Sunday, I went to Seikei University with my friend because the school festival was held. I met many my high school friends ! One of my friend is the member of life saving club. So, he wore swimsuit and danced cheerfully in spite of the cold weather! I also felt cold when I watched his dance! X)

I ate Yakitori, Okonomiyaki, Chocolate banana, Frankfurt. I was very happy!

Does anyone go to another school festival? If you went, please tell me about * See ya!

I was surprised and disappointed at the cancel. As usual, I went to the classroom, but nobody was there! I had studied for a test since this early morning. Well, anyway I was happy at the cancel(´,_ゝ｀)


These days, I have much homework, so very busy! However, winter vacation is just around the corner! If we hang in there now, we should be able to enjoy winter vacation!

Anyway, we will be sophomore sooner than expected.

Even though,I was troubled a report of reading class, today's reading class canceled a lecture!
I was surprised when I got a mail written about it.

I haven't a classes until 4th period, so I'll write the listening reports from now on.

Short movies

1. Mermaid

This is a fantastic story.
A boy who has a rich imagination was in love with a mermaid .
But, people around him could not see the mermaid and think he is crazy.
So, they began to take him imagination by force.

This movie looks very simple and like watching a picture book.
But, I think there is something important from Tezuka Osamu.
One is the imagination is necessary for human.
The obvious difference between human and other animals is thinking power.
without the power, human could not developed by now.
Imagination is the very thing that people's special privilege.
Second one is that nobody is able to deprive one's imagination power.

Everyone made sure of the figure of mermaid was the climax of this movie.
Maybe, it is stand for hope that people for future.

2.Aquarios

This movie with no lines, more difficult than Mermaid for me.
I can't completely understand the story now...
The characters are a dolphin who is human live in sea and a woman.
I think this movie tells us that freedom is very important.
Originally human has its root in sea.
So, the woman in this movie has a longing for the sea is natural happening.

I would like to read other's blog to deepen my understanding of the short movies.
