Shopaholism

The day before yesterday there is the third class party in Machida. Did you have a good time?? Of course, I enjoyed it very much! I think we could talk about something we hadn't been able to talk about in college. Please look forward to the next party!ヾ(。・∀・)ノ

These days, I don't have enough time to study, so I feel my English ability is going down. Oh, my God! So, I think of it good that writing an article on this blog can regain my English abilities in writing and vocabulary, and then I would like to enrich these abilities. When I studied by Really-English, I noticed a certain word I had been interested in since before. That's "shopaholic", which means a person who enjoys shopping very much and spends too much time or money doing it. When you hear this word, I think you will recall a movie "Confessions of a shopaholic" released in this year. The movie is called in Japanese "Okaimono chudoku na watashi." The content in itself is to the effect that the woman with shopaholism who dreams of a prestigious writer of a fashion magazine went on buying to the full. Although she almost underwent a collapse of daily life, she managed to get a happy life. I think someone in IE has ever watched this movie.

Originally, shopaholic is a slang for oniomania(from Greek onios="for sale," mania="insanity"), which is a medical term for the compulsive desire to shop. In general, women are said that they enjoy shopping in order to be freed from stress. I also think women may be so, but there is something biased about this opinion because men also enjoy shopping to relieve stress. Of course, I love shopping! Shopping makes me happy! Maybe, women usually buy much more things or much more often than men, so such a opinion is now going around.

The cause of shopaholism is said to be related to the feelings, such as loneliness. However, why is shopaholism going around only today? That's because simply there is a large number goods in this world to the effect that a word "materialism" has come into being.

To my surprise, in the USA and Canada there are support groups for shopping-addicted people.

Shopaholism is a problem with much more to it than one thinks, but I wonder if most women have thought that they may be shopaholics for a few times.
