I enjoyed this movie, but it was a little difficult for me to understand... I sometimes missed the caption and couldn't understand the situation! But anyway, I'll answer to 3 questions.
1. The main caracters are Freder and Maria.
2. The main theme is the gap between upper class and working class, I think.
3. This film shows us one solution of the disparity; people should know and help each other regardless of their class. It is not easy to do that because they tend to perceive others through the bias, so a intermediary is needed in this movie. However, Freder, the intermediary, was originally a person from upper class. This tells us that anyone can be the intermediary. Anyone can know the gap, and people who knows it probably try to solve the bad situation, like Freder. If all people become like the hero, the peaceful world become a reality. Therefore, this film tells us that people should know and help each other.
